My Story
Growing up as a child of refugee parents, I have listened to countless stories of the Vietnam War, of family members being imprisoned by the communists and losing everything to the new regime, of escaping on fishing boats trying to reach far-away refugee camps, and of starting a completely new life in a new country. I know how hard it can be to flee a war-torn home with nothing at all and have to rebuild everything from the ground up. Now Afghan refugees are experiencing almost the same situation as our families did after the war; as they are being resettled into the US, it is crucial that we help them to the best of our ability just as we were helped when my parents first came to America.
